Around 150,000 people live on the island, with over 60 different nationalities.  The way in which everyone lives peacefully together on this small rock comes natural to the local inhabitants, so natural even that it often amazes them that visitors regard this as one of the unique features of the island.

The different ethnic groups and nationalities live not only next to each other, but with each other, and the level of tolerance is very high.

The tolerance does not only apply to the way in which the different cultures interact, but also shows in the acceptance of homosexuality; making Curacao one of the few gay-friendly destinations in the area.
