Zuikertuin was once a plantation ('tuin' means 'garden') and the original plantation house is still part of the entire modern building nowadays. For years the building housed a supermarket, but a few years ago it was thoroughly renovated and now houses the only fully air-conditioned mall on the island. The shops are aimed towards the luxury segment. There is a wide variety available, from a book store to jewelry shops. Three restaurants and a coffee shop are conveniently located on the premises, so even in the evening the place is still very much alive!
