After being picked up at your hotel this tour shows you both the historical city center and the rugged country side.
The first area that you will drive to is the historical down-town Punda area. It is famous for its Handelskade (trade quay) that resembles Old Amsterdam canal houses in tropical pastel colors.
Curacao has an old Jewish community that has always played an important role in the local community. Just outside Punda you will see the Jewish neighborhood 'Scharloo' with its elegant wedding cake mansions.
The tour continues with a nice roundtrip over the east end of the island, where you will dream of owning a house on the Spanish Water lagoon, visit the souvenirshop on the island with the nicest view to finally take some pictures from the top of the Fort Nassau.
At Landhouse Chobolobo you will be able to taste the drink that has given Curacao international fame; the Blue Curacao Liqueur. The factory still produces the original orange liqueur in all colors of the rainbow and even in some alternative flavors.
In the afternoon you will head to the west to show you all the beautiful views and sites on the rural side of the island.
Flamingos in their natural habitat can be seen almost always at the old salt flats of Jan Kok. While there is no salt harvest anymore, the water is still full of the little shrimps that the flamingos feed on and that give them their pink color.
The tour continues with picture opportunities at two premier beaches; Sta. Cruz with its quaint pirates nest and the pristine Knip Bay with its brilliant turquoise water white sandy beach.
After rounding the most Western tip of the island the tour will continue to one of Curacao's geographical rarities - Boka Tabla. This cave is accessible from the shore, but connected to the ocean. Descend the slippery steps to awe at the rumble of the waves crashing into the cave. Boka Tabla is part of the Shete Boka National Park and is the last stop of this tour.
During the tour lunch will be offered at Jaanchi's restaurant, where local dishes such as iguana and goat stew are served. |
